LPN Schools In Maryland, MD
LPN schools in Maryland include the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), which is the largest school in the state of Maryland to offer an LPN program. The program consists of 12 courses taken over 3 semesters, for a total 12 months of study. Those who complete the program will earn an LPN Certificate, and will then be eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination - Practical Nurse. Passing this exam is required for employment as an LPN. The disadvantage of the program is that it is only offered on the Dundalk campus, and admission is competitive, as only 40 students granted admission each year. The Anne Arundel Community College located in Arnold, MA, also offers an LPN program, and this program has the advantage of being approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing. 41 credit hours are needed to earn a Nursing Certificate, which will require 4 terms of study taken over 2 years. However, the courses are only offered in the evenings and on weekends, and applicants must pass a criminal background check before admission is granted. Graduates of the Certificate program will be granted eligibility for the NCLEX-PN, and the passing of this test will entitle them to work as an LPN.
